Does the HearUs Coalition provide treatment for mental health issues?
The short answer is no... but wait! While the HearUs Coalition is not a treatment center, we may be able to help with referrals to one of our independent mental healthcare providers, or other resources according to your needs.
Ok. So I'm confused. You're not a mental health treatment center. So what exactly do you folks do?
For starters - We pitch our little 10x10 tent wherever legally allowed and provide free mental health screenings; hold Q&A live and virtual group chats on specific mental health topics; organize seminars, trainings and conferences and invite guest speakers with expertise on a variety of mental health issues; (Some of these are open to the public, others are geared towards mental healthcare providers). We collaborate with, advocate for, and throw our support behind other organizations working to improve the overall environment of mental health care. And That's just on Tuesdays!
Is HearUs Mental Health & Wellness a non-profit organization?
Nope! Too much darn paperwork! We are a group of independent mental healthcare providers with a common goal: Improve the overall environment of mental health and wellness for everyone, with a special focus on BIPOC communities, as this is a population with the greatest need.
If I purchase a membership, or just feel like supporting your cause with a few of my hard earned dollars, can I deduct that from my taxes?
Nope. (Sorry). The Tax Man only allows deductions for not-for-profit organizations - - and we are not one of those. But in addition to the warm and fuzzy feelings that come with throwing your support behind a worthwhile cause, a HearUs membership does bring some pretty cool and educational benefits! (See membership categories on previous page).
What about refunds?
What about them? Kidding... Here's the thing: Once you make the generous move to join as a member, or support our cause in any way, we eagerly put those funds towards the next event, guest speaker, advocacy efforts, pro-bono psychotherapy sessions, etc. Therefore, memberships are not refundable. (Sorry).
I'm a Mental Health expert with some expertise of my own! Can I be a speaker at one of your events?
Heck Yeah! It takes a Village! And we need you! If you have a relevant topic that you would like to share with the world, shoot us an email and lets "tawk"!

Action Board

See something; Say Something
We are all advocates in the fight for equitable accessible mental health care for all. If you know of a situation - closing or defunding of a Mental Health clinic in a BIPOC community; Patterns of access denied; etc., raise your voice and let's see if we can't get our community behind your cause!
Resources
Finding a qualified mental health care provider can be extremely challenging. Finding a qualified mental health care provider that you can connect to.... even harder!

Do the research - ask questions. A good fit is key to successful recovery.
Never Stop Growing!
Innovations in mental health treatment and care change all the time. Are you providing the best most evidenced-based care for your BIPOC clients? There's always more to learn. For the sake of your clients, and for you...Keep learning! Keep growing!
Self Love
Everyone - even the strongest among us - needs a mental health break on a regular basis. There are several things you can do. Take a walk; Talk to a friend; Mindfulness, Imagery, Meditation and Mindful Breathing exercises all have proven benefits for mental health and wellbeing.
